February 27th Trail Report

Reported by: Jonathan

The grooming team has been working tirelessly, and thanks to Mother Nature’s generosity, we’re experiencing some of the best trail conditions in years! The recent weather in Chittenden has brought excellent snow and cold temperatures, making our trails perfect for riding.

Most trails are in excellent shape—freshly groomed with solid bases and smooth surfaces. Just a heads-up about Trail 7 heading out to Brandon between Lead Mine/Middle Rd and Genoese Junction: there are large water bars due to running water, so please be cautious and slow down in this area. This section has been changed to caution.

Off the groomed trails, the snow is soft and deep. If you decide to go off-piste to cool your sled down, be careful—there might be hidden hazards under the snow, and don’t get your sled buried.

Chittenden has been enjoying great conditions lately, thanks to steady cold temps keeping the snow firm and several snowfall events adding to the base depth. The short-term forecast looks promising, with cold, partly cloudy weather helping maintain these fantastic conditions. Saturday is expected to warm up a bit, promising a wonderful riding day. There might be a warm-up next week with some above-average temperatures, but our grooming crew will keep up with regular operations as weather allows.

Across Vermont, VAST trails are also in good to excellent shape, with strong bases and consistent grooming. They’re all set for great rides!

Remember to always:

– Stay on marked trails

– Respect private property

– Ride responsibly and at safe speeds, especially in caution areas

– Check VAST trail updates before heading out

Ride safe, ride right, and enjoy these amazing conditions!
