Subscriber Email Notifications

Up to this point at least, email notifications have not been working. This is a test of our email notification service for new blog posts. If all goes well you are reading about this post in an email, if not, it’s back to the drawing board for me. I’ve been working with the technical support for our bulk emailing service and have found some elements to sure it up but still have not been able to make the notifications send out.

While I’m here allow me to mention a couple ways you can help out the club in terms of those notification emails. Please, never mark them as spam in your email program. This tends to convince our bulk mailing service that we are sending out spam and once they get enough of those they shut down our emails. This has happened several times now. Instead of marking them as spam, if you don’t want them any more, please use the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any notification message to stop receiving them. Other ways to fortify the club’s notification sending: subscribe with a valid email address and verify it with the confirmation email, at least open them and ideally click the link that takes you to the complete post on our website. These actions keep your email address in good standing so when the snow arrives and a trail report is written, it is sent quickly to your email address so you will know how best to plan your adventure.

In order to reactivate our subscriber list, I had to remove some subscribers the email service marked as “uncertain” so I suggest using the Manage Subscription on the bottom of any email notification you have received or simply re-subscribe to make sure you don’t miss out on any notification emails. Subscribing is working correctly now, regardless of whether this post gets sent out in emails.
